So I imagine the conversation at this manufacturer went something like this:
Fred: Hey, Joe! You know that Batman TV show is really taking off in the ratings! We've got to get a piece of the licensing pie!
Joe: Good idea, Fred. So what should we make, once we get the license?
Fred: I don't know, Joe... something we can do cheap, that the kids will like. What are we already making we can stick some Batman thing on? Something nobody else is making with Batman on it?
Joe: Well, we sell a lot of those cap grenades... why don't we do something there?
Fred: Great! We'll just slap some batwings on it and call it good! I'll get the licensing taken care of now.
