Sparkle Gun!

batman_sparklegun

Great card art, but a pretty bad Batman toy, if you ask me!

Stickers!

Here's some stickers!

batman_stickers.JPG

While Batman, Robin, and other characters from the Batman titles dominate this batch of puffy stickers, if you look close, you'll see a few Superman and Aquaman stickers, too!

batman_stickers.JPG

I'm sure these stickers weren't licensed... but they don't exactly say "Batman," do they?

Slingshot-Launched Flying Batman!

batman_slingshotfigure

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I do not understand why there have been so many flying Batman toys made!

Street Signs!

batman_signs1.jpg

batman_signs2.jpg

These signs were probably part of the blitz of merchandising surrounding the release of the first Batman movie!

Pencil Sharpener!

I think I may have posted a photo of this one earlier, but this one is larger and clearer!

"Robot Raiders" Knock-Off Toy!

batman_robotraider

Click on this image for super-size viewing and look at the parachutist... obviously, it's intended to be Batman, even if the toy is called "Robot Raiders"!

Push Puppet!

batman_pushpuppet.JPG

This is a pretty cool-looking push puppet... although I'm guessing when you push the button under the base it just looks silly.

Press-Out Book!

batman_pressout66

This 1966 book should really be reissued... it's a great papercraft concept, and I keep hoping I'll stumble upon some blog or website where someone's scanned the pages so I can print 'em out and build these things myself!

Pool Toy!

batman_pooltoy

I'm sorry, but I find this item to be completely bizarre... why not a Batboat pool toy??

Playset!

batman_playset

I wish I had more photos of this... hopefully, a seller will offer this with more photos soon! I believe the figures with this were all cardboard with plastic bases.

Nightshirt!

batman_nightshirt

Not sure if this really is supposed to be a nightshirt, but that's what the seller claimed it was! I wish the photo was larger to show more detail of the pictures on it!

Here's more essentials for your vintage Batman party!

Paint by Number Sets!

batman_paintbynumber.JPG

batman_paintbynumbers

batman_paintthenwear.JPG

OK, so the last item isn't a paint by numbers, but it's close enough. I was never a fan of paint by numbers myself, mainly because paint brushes and I don't get along (which is why I'm not Alex Ross, among many other reasons). As you can see from the first picture above, unless you were a very good painter, your pictures wouldn't turn out nearly as nice as the box showed!

"Oil Can" puzzles!

batman_oilcanpuzzle

batman_oilcanpuzzle.jpg

batman_oilcanpuzzle1.JPG

batman_oilcanpuzzle2.JPG

One of the odd things in the 1970s was the emergence of the "oil can" style box for puzzles. Many puzzles were released in this style of container as well as a more standard box. I'm guessing the reason for the "oil can style" (so called because they're the same size as the old-fashioned oil cans, naturally) is that they would allow for more flexible display than standard puzzles. I've got photos in my files of all sorts of these, featuring other superheroes, monsters, Planet of the Apes, and more!

Batman Album and 8-Track Tapes!

batman_music

OK, starting from the left... this first 8-track-tape is the Batman TV show soundtrack currently available on CD, which had previously been sold as an LP and cassette... I have to admit, I didn't know it came out on 8-track!

The album in the middle is a classic... the Marketts did this whole album of music, only the first track of which was from the TV show (and it was their version of the theme song), but it's well worth a listen, because there's a song for just about everyone, mostly instrumental except for one line of vocals, repeated over and over (the Robin song has the refrain "Robin, the boy wonder, Robin," sung over and over, while the Joker song has a Joker laugh all the way through it).

The 8-track on the right? Well, 2-track, anyway... that I have no idea about!

Rubber Mask!

batman_mask

Is it just me, or does the fact that this mask covers your entire face, not just the part Batman's mask covers his, just a little bit disturbing?

Logo Nightlight!

batman_logonitelight

I've always liked this Batman logo!

Super Friends Glow Plate!

A nice switchplate cover! I don't know that I've seen any of these with the other Super Friends.

Japanese Playing Cards!

Fair warning -- we're about to enter several days of Japanese Batman items!

batman_japanesecards.jpg

I hope this doesn't cause too many of you to howl in anguish because your browser won't let you see the full width of the photo... but I had to show it in all its glory!

I wonder if the second Joker in the deck features the Joker, and not the Riddler?

Inflatable Kite!

batman_inflatakite

As much as I go on about the silliness of flying Batman items, I have to admit that I think I had this kite as a kid!

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Husky Extra Gift Pack!

batman_huskyextra

I have no idea if Husky had a license from Corgi to produce Corgi stuff under their own imprint or what... seems to me to be the only possible reason they produced this Batmobile and Batboat that looks to be from the same era as the Corgi ones!

Gumball Machine Fabric Stickers!

batman_gumballfabricsticker

Not too bad for gumball machine items, are they? I wonder how many different stickers there were?

Gliders!

batman_glider

Why someone thought a flying Batman figure was appropriate, I'll never know... I mean, yeah, it looks neat, but Batman doesn't have the ability to fly...

batman_gliders.JPG

...not that it's stopped anyone else from manufacturing flying Batmans! (Batmen?) And these aren't the only ones, either!
